Visit To The Long Fin Eel

Recently our class went down to see some longfin eels in the local river. We went to visit them because we are studying endangered animals and these are one of them. When got back to school after the trip we wrote poems and I wrote a haiku.

Haiku
Lurking in waters,
Emerging from murky depths,
Stalking the stink meat.

Searching the river,
Waiting for the black shadow,
The shadow arrives.

Free Poem
Swiftly gliding towards the strange figures on the surface.
Sensing the yummy stinky meat.

I turn and call the others, then its on.

  1. Hello Hohepa,
We are a class of 3 / 4 learners at Makaraka School. We really enjoyed seeing your photos of the longfin eels and reading your poem! When we read your post we learned that the Longfin Eel is endangered! What is the difference between a longfin eel and a shortfin eel?
